Balansit For Pelvic Floor Issues

Pelvic Floor issues affect many people, both Men and Women. Balansit has been carefully engineered to assist in activating this pelvic floor to develop the muscles & promote pelvic floor strength. This can help with supporting healthy bowel function & dealing with issues caused by trauma's or pregnancy.

What Is The Pelvic Floor?

Historically its diagnosis and treatment has been focused on women (due to it sometimes being affected in child birth), however our understanding of pelvic floor disorders in men has evolved much in the last decade.

The pelvic floor muscles are found in the base of your pelvis, and support several organs and structures. These in include the bladder, the uterus and vagina (in women), the Prostate (in men) and the rectum.

The pelvic floor is also part of the Core. The core muscles create a cylinder, and work together to control Intra Abdominal Pressure (IAP), essential for Lumbar Pelvic Stability. (use image below)

Pelvic Floor Related Issues

Many factors can lead to Pelvic Floor Disfunction, including trauma, pregnancy, pelvic surgery, overuse (such as chronic constipation), chronic and or excessive IAP (pushing down the pelvic floor), obesity and old age.

This can lead to many issues such as Prolapse (in women), incontinence, painful urination or bowel movement, lower back pain and pelvic pain.

When we sit and slump, we can excessively increase our IAP, pushing our pelvic floor musles down. If we do this for long periods of time this can lead to weakness of the Pelvic Floor muscles.

How Balansit Can Help Your Pelvic Floor?

When the Balansit was designed, the saddle or cutaway was designed to mirror the pelvic floor. When you sit on the Balansit, due to the 2 curves, it is designed to flex both front to back and side to side (have the design video in this page), challenging the pelvic floor to increase activation.  This would turn sitting into not only an active exercise but a toning one too!!
